Exercise

This is where the rubber will meet the road for me, if you will excuse the much overused expression.  Of course, I will be continuing my journey with CrossFit as my primary source of physical fitness but I will become focused with a set of goals, an action plan and a commitment to a set number of workouts a week.  My amazing and motivating coach, Andy Mahaney, and I worked together to select three benchmark workouts, which I completed this week.  They are:

Kelly

5 rounds of 400 meter run, 30 box jumps (20 inch) and 30 wallballs (14#/9feet)

Isabel

30 Power Snatches for time

Cindy

As many reps as possible in 20 minutes of 5 pull-ups, 10 push-ups and 15 squats

Kelly, this being the first time doing this workout, was one of the toughest of my life!  I have a long way to go on building my endurance and this benchmark will be the true test of whether I accomplish that or not.  Isabel is familiar to me and I actually had a PR (personal record) when I did this workout on Tuesday.  My goal here will relate to strength and form.  The most brutal of the three benchmarks for me was Cindy.  Kelly was definitely tougher physically but Cindy kicked my but on all fronts: physically and emotionally.  I lost a lot of strength while we were away this summer and put on a few pounds, as well, so the pull-ups were ridiculously hard.   The push-ups were not much better but at least I was able to maintain fairly decent form, where it all fell apart on the pull-ups.  I will post my scores below and add the videos when I figure out how to do that.  Stated goals will be formulated and as soon as I have them I finalize them, with the direction of my coach, I will post them here.

Hi Kelly!! Thanks for checking in. I did “Kelly” last week and it was brutal!! My time was just over 38 minutes and I am so happy I didn’t look at your and Andy’s times beforehand! As hard as it was, did it not feel great once you were done?? I walked out of tCF that day feeling awesome. The winter weather has me nervous for my repeat but Andy said you killed it even though it was cold. You will have to let me know if you did anything to prepare for that. Hope all is well with you and hope to see you soon!!!
